We left in the rain this morning – forecast said it would rain all day, so, we thought if we set off early at least we’ve plenty of time to dry out and relax before the pub later on.
It did totally chuck it down to start with. We didn’t see many boats, we also struggled with the gate at Somerton Deep Lock, because it wouldn’t close and I had trouble closing it, despite me literally hanging off it.
Once through this lock, the rain started to clear. We passed Bones and gave her a hand up through the lock as she is single handing. I note that her dog Boots is a two coat lurcher, very well wrapped up he was, compared to our rather damp lurcher. We arrived at Lower Heyford by about 2pm and weren’t there for long until Dave passed us. We will see him in the pub this evening.
Had a snooze then sent some graphics off via yousendit for Toby. The internet is really lousy in Lower Heyford, taking one hour to send 7mb. At least it went!
We had a fun night in the pub with Dave and his friend Pam. There was a loud stag party in there, all dressed as Spam(?) , most with blonde wigs. One of them fell asleep and within minutes his friends had stacked up sandwiches, reserved signs, menus, you name it on his head and shoulders.
