Only a short hop by boat, this morning, from Kings Sutton to Banbury, (or rather just outside). I’ve a Buddhist planning meeting at Naomi’s tonight.
It didn’t take us long to get there. At teatime, the three of us walked to the station via Morrison’s (to pick up dinner for Toby). By 5.30pm I was at Marylebone and by 6pm, I was in this Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Baker Street, near where I used to work, (before I was a boater and had seen the light).
Lord only knows why I came here – my usual choice in town is sushi or a Japanese noodle bar – the burger was way too big so I left most of the bread. The corn on the cob was chargrilled to perfection but stone cold. They gave me enough onion rings to stuff a bin bag and they were so salty they made my mouth sore. It cost me £20 as well! Welcome back to London!
I left most of it. Next week I’m going to get into town earlier and go to Crystal in Wood Green, it’s a Turkish restaurant and its £7 for three courses.
Arrived at Naomi’s warehouse but she wasn’t there, let myself in using her key. The whole warehouse complex said ’party’ to me. You can easily tell when there has been a party at the weekend. It was carnage. Couldn’t work out why Ms Yong Yhaps’ room was so messy, though.
Then she told me she’d had a fire in there, fell asleep with a candle. She had to smash the window coz she couldn’t breathe. Eeek – she could’ve died. We had our planning meeting. I love Naomi – she plyed us with Nori and Chinese sweets from the Chinese supermarket round the corner. Love being away boating, but I know I’d miss my beloved multicultural London and my ace friends if I was away for too long. We set a subject for the meeting next week and agreed who would moderate and who would find something to read out.
Arrived back in Banbury at 11.40pm, Toby and Rocky waiting for me. Another successful mission.
